Fort Collins, CO

Basic Information
Fort Collins is about an hour north of Denver. It's at the base of the Rockies and is surrounded by rural areas. The town itself has about 144,000 people within 47.1 square miles. The average temperature in the summer is around 71 degrees F. The average temperature in the winter is about 29 degrees F. It is the fourth most populated city in Colorado. The largest employer in Fort Collins is Colorado State University.

Downtown
Downtown is FILLED with a ton of cute, privately owned shops, restaurants, boutiques, salons, and much more. The old, small town feel of downtown makes you feel right at home, even if you're just visiting. They also have a ton of community events such as marathons, farmers markets, concerts, dancing, and so much more. I know this just sounds like another website promoting all the wonderful things about Fort Collins, but seriously, it's fantastic. The buildings are really cool, the people are incredibly nice, and, although it isn't exactly a small town, the sense of community is completely amazing. If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself.

Food
I know they say when you're in college, you won't have the time, money, or opportunity to go out to eat much. You're a "starving student", as they say. But in Fort Collins, you might just have to go out to eat all the time. The food is just too good. A couple summers ago, when I visited Fort Collins with my family, we went to this local brewery called Coopers Smith's Pub and Brewing. Not only did it have the usual hamburger and french fry brewery food, but it had pasta, salads, steaks, seafood, and a ton of other amazing food. They also had home-brewed root beer. It was delicious. Here is the link to their website: http://coopersmithspub.com/
Anyway, the point of that story is don't just take the restaurants in Fort Collins at face value. Go in, eat, and discover new and amazing things. Plus, with the crazy number of restaurants in Fort Collins, you could probably try a new food every day for your time at Colorado State University.
